REVIEW: Hog Roast by Aldi

It’s another post-lunchtime blog. And why is it late? Because I’ve been playing Xbox and got carried away. So let’s jump into it.

When I went to Starbucks yesterday, I decided to get another sandwich to keep in the fridge so I don’t have to go out today for the sole purpose of getting a sandwich – I have quite literally run out of other things to leave the house for this week. Whilst looking for the bonus sandwich yesterday, I peered through the window of Cafe Nero but couldn’t see anything that wouldn’t need toasting, so waddled off to Aldi instead.

Aldi didn’t have any turkey sandwiches, so it was a choice between a turkey wrap or something completely different – hog roast! I assume this counts as a Christmas sandwich, the packaging has a little Christmas tree on it and everything. So let’s crack on.

Cooked British pulled pork, Bramley apple sauce seasoned mayonnaise, pork, sage and onion stuffing, rocket, fried onion and parsley on sage and onion bread.

The sweet apple sauce goes very well with the pork and stuffing, as you would expect, but it might be a bit too sweet – we’re hitting apple pie levels here! I’m also not sure if I can taste any difference between the sage and onion bread or normal white bread. Finally, I have one more gripe – this would’ve been much better warm, fresh from the hog itself. All in all, a valiant effort but it has a few too many problems.
