REVIEW: Vegan Christmas Nut Roast by Pret

Well you never know what sandwich you’re going to get on the blog now that it has become a lawless Wild West of sandwich reviewing with no rules or criteria. Which brings us to the Vegan Christmas Nut Roast by Pret.

Remember after the first lockdown when the government and the media tried to make us feel sorry for Pret for losing money. Fucking Pret! Boo-fucking-hoo. Remember when they told us all to get back to the office? The train companies that have ripped you off for years are losing money, get back on the trains. The Chinese and Russian billionaires who own all the offices are panicking because your company might have realised it can function perfectly well with a lot of people working from home and they might not need that much office space any more. The hedge fund investment companies that own all of the soulless chains where you spend at least £5 on a lunch you’ve been making at home for 35p a day for the past three months are getting edgy. Get back out there and spend your fucking money you fucking scum, we don’t care if you die, money is more important that all of you. Eat out to help out. Spend, spend, spend. What do you mean people are dying again? Get back in your houses you scum, what were you thinking going out and working and eating and drinking? How can you be so irresponsible? Get back in your little houses. But come back out at the beginning of December and spend that Christmas money you usually spend, because the party donors who own the big shop chains are about to go bust oh no wait its too late, goodbye Topshop, goodbye Debenhams, and good fucking riddance. Let it all burn, kill the identical high streets up and down the land hahahaha!!!!

I probably shouldn’t have bought something from Pret.

Another sandwich squashed in the backpack

Roasted butternut squash, peppery rocket and Christmas pesto made with pine nuts, chestnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, parsley & rosemary. Served with a spoonful of vegan sage mayo, crispy onions and caramelised pecans

As you can see, no turkey today. The end of December rankings are going to be a mess.

This is a really nice sandwich – the rocket and butternut squash work well together, and the crispy onions and caramelised pecans give it both a sweet and salty crunch, with the pecans adding a bit of Christmas flavour as well. And it needed that, or it was just going to be a very nice sandwich, but instead this is a very nice Christmas sandwich which I would recommend. I still wish they had gone under though.
