REVIEW: Turkey, bacon and cranberry by Waitrose (2013)

Since last year’s Christmas Sandwich blog a Waitrose has opened and it is now the third closest shop to the office. Hooray!

£3.20 -Turkey, Pork Sage & Onion Stuffing, Cranberry & Port Sauce, Mayo, Spinach, Smoked Bacon, Malted Bread.

There’s that fancy cranberry and port sauce again. Are Pret supplying Waitrose? It wouldn’t surprise me. Let’s hope the stuffing isn’t like yesterday because I’m still finding it around my desk.

I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a Waitrose sandwich. If you know otherwise please let me know. I like the knitted jumper packaging, but just naming your Christmas sandwich after the three main ingredients? Come on, put some more effort in! It’s a nice looking, colourful sandwich though.

So allegedly my first ever Waitrose sandwich. What is it like? The stuffing and cranberry are subtle, which is usually a good thing, but they are overwhelmed by spinach and mayonnaise. In fact there is a ridiculous amount of spinach in this. The whole thing just tastes of iron and goo. That poor bacon and turkey 😦

First Waitrose sandwich? Not impressed. How is Greggs winning so far this year?
